QuietNight™ is a new generation mobile tool designed to help healthcare professionals assess patient recovery areas where environmental noise may impede healing.
Hospitals are aware of the impact that ambient and acute noise has on patient rest and recovery, particularly at night. Research has shown that the noise floor in a rest space isn’t as disruptive as sounds that suddenly occur that are 30 dB or more above the sound floor. So in a quiet room with an ambient level of 15 dB, a sudden 45 dB sound is just as startling to a resting patient as a 70 dB sound in a space with a 40 dB sound floor. It’s relative.
Accurate to within +/- 1 decibel, QuietNight quantifies opportunities for noise mitigation based on deviation from recommended levels by quickly measuring the sound floor in any environment.
What is unique about QuietNight is that it does not record sound - it measures sound pressure only. Patient privacy and safety is assured because there is no audio recording.
